Preparing for your wedding

We are delighted that you are looking at our website to find out more about getting married in one of our churches. Our benefice has three churches: St Mary’s, Abbotts Ann - All Saints, Upper Clatford – St Peter’s, Goodworth Clatford.

Your wedding is a very exciting time and there is much to prepare for.  The Church of England website has a wealth of information to help guide you through these early days and is well worth looking at before you start these preparations.  Visit the Church of England website

There are a number of different connections you may have with the Anna Benefice Churches which will qualify you to be married here and we will be delighted to offer help, guidance and advice.  A list of qualifying connection can be found here

All couples who wish to get married in the Anna Benefice need to first contact our office administrator: officeannabenefice@gmail.com. This is to establish a connection, to ascertain if this is a remarriage for either bride or groom and to ask for a preferred date for the wedding.

We will then get in touch with you to fill in the relevant paperwork to secure a booking.  You will be invited to attend a Marriage Preparation Course at some point before your wedding and to meet with the priest conducting your wedding. This provides an opportunity for the priest to get to know you before the wedding day and will be designed to help you with preparations for the service as well as offering practical guidance for your relationship.

Aspects of this meeting will provide information about the wedding itself, considering both what it means to be married in a Christian service in addition to addressing practcial aspects such as legal requirements, choices for readings, hymns, music, flowers, bells and so on.

If you would like to enquire further about booking one of our beautiful churches for your wedding, please send an email to:
officeannabenefice@gmail.com
and include both your names, your address and proposed date of your wedding.
We will be in touch with you soon. In the meantime, may we wish you all joy and happiness as you start making your preparations.
